Emotions

This week we are learning about feelings and emotions. We are also practicing for the play on friday.

On Monday, the children made faces and sung songs about emotions. In the afternoon they rehersed for the play, which involved splitting the children into four groups and giving them a topic each.

On Tuesday, we went on an outing to a Dam in Gladako. We walked through the forest.

We are artists!

Art show

We spent the week recreating famous art work pieces, including Monet, Mondrian and Kandinsky. We then showed this art work off in the town to the public. We had a prize ceremony after this with the older students.

The children also made paintings with different objects, like pasta and did bubble painting.

As well as doing art, we played lots of games and on friday had a scavenger hunt with the older students.

Cooperative Olympic Games

everybody is the winner

Today, we have closed the topic of cooperative Olympic Games with going to the town and where we held the Olympic opening ceremony, representing different countries and carrying the olympic flame. We have also had the opportunity to teach the younger group some cooperative games and get them involved in being the golden medalists. We have also taken part in a scavenger hunt held in a park behind the police station, completing different tasks and looking for different clues. We had a lovely day in town and are looking forward to next week.

English Word Hunt

On Wednesday, our group had another chance to spend time outside the classroom. The challenge was to look for as many English words around our school as possible. At first we thought it was an impossible task because not too many people speak English regularly in Oñati. But after paying close attention to the sign boards, posters and other materials around town, we realized that there were more than enough English words to keep us busy for over an hour! Even the crates and boxes of our favorite fruits had some English words printed on them!

So far from Animals Week

So far from Animals week, we have learnt the names of animals and where they live, played games like Chinese whispers to revise the animal vocabulary, made animal masks, drawn pictures of animals that we like and animals that we do not like as well as other things. On Thursday, we watched 64 Zoo Lane, an English programme which tells various stories involving animals as well as going out to feed the birds in the Square. It has been a very good week so far!

Kurutziaga - Thursday - Olympic Week

On Thursday we did our own Olympic games! The children had fun competing in the egg and spoon race, sack race and wheelbarrow race. We practiced sport related vocabulary such as winning, loosing and drawing as well as sport emotion vocabulary such as proud and dissapointed. We had also done a craft activity, making our own papier machee shot puts.

Week 2 - Olympic Games Week

This week is Olympic Games week. We are going to host our own Olympic Games as well as create and play our own crazy games. On Tuesday, we looked at the vocabulary for different sports and we played a quiz about famous sports people. Not many people knew who Michael Phelps was! We decided to combine with the other class and we played games altogether and then danced altogether. This worked well as there were more people playing the games, so it was more exciting.

Creating our campaigns

Yesterday we made a poster in groups and we designed a t-shirt. There are 3 campaigns in our class: no more cracks in the pavement, put your recycling in the correct bin and litter on the floor. In the park we took photos with the problem and our posters. Toady we played games, we watched some videos and we learned the names of places in the town. We prepared and practised our videos for the campaign and we will record the videos tomorrow morning while wearing our t-shirts. This afternoon everybody made slime and we all enjoyed it!

Tuesday’s Shopping Trip

Tuesday: Food Week

This week is “food week” where we are learning new vocabulary about different food using games, lessons, and little trips around Trapaga.

We had some fun outside in the morning to start, before we began the lessons inside. We played Simon Says, Chinese whispers, and a chasing game where some children pretended to be an animal and chased the others who pretended to be food. It was great because it was dry and sunny, but not too hot!

Martes: Excursión al Supermercado

Martes: Semana de la comida

Esta semana es la "semana de la comida" donde aprendemos vocabulario nuevo sobre diferentes alimentos usando juegos, lecciones y pequeños viajes alrededor de Trapaga.
