End of week 2 - the Film Festival

For the second part of week 2 we have gathered together all the things we have learnt and prepared during the week, to organise our very own film festival.

Firstly on Wednesday, students created two groups and started working on their very own recreation of two famous scenes. One of them was from Shrek (you can find it on YouTube as "Shrek Cliff Scene") and the other was from Madagascar (you can find on YouTube as "Madagascar Birthday Scene"). The students were given simplified scripts and needed to rehearse their own version of the famous scenes. They also needed to create their own costumes and prompts. As a second activity of the day, students have worked on posters for their films. Then, we have filmed our short videoclips. The students did just great!

Thursday was the day. We have gathered in the classroom in the morning and got everything ready for our film festival. We had the photocall wall ready, the films ready, tickets for our audience (the younger group and teachers). Unfortunately, we did not have red carpet but very special purple carpet. And finally, the film festival started. Firstly, the audience has welcomed celebrities from the Madagascar, they have walked the purple carpet, fans took photos and reporters (group Shrek) asked cheeky questions. Then, the Madagascar scene was screened. Second to go was Shrek film, once again we have welcomed the celebrities on our purple carpet, took photos and asked them questions about their celebrity life. Both of the films were a great success, film critics were stunned and iMDB users would give it 100%, we highly recommend to watch them! (You will receive the videos in an email from Maddi soon). In the end, all of the film crews were awarded by the EnjoyEnglishFilmFestival trophies.

I was very proud of the students, during the two weeks all of them made a great progress, in the beginning not many of them spoke in whole sentences without being forced to do so, however, on Friday, everybody was able to have a casual conversation with the teacher without any significant trouble. So our Friday by the river and festive lunch as a goodbye was the best ending of our camp!
