Second half of the week

From Wednesday till Friday we continued with our topic "Passport to the world". On Wednesday, we have visited Brazil. Students have explored a bit of the Brazilian culture along with learning specific useful words for travelling ("How do we get to Brazil? We can go by plane! We can go by boat! We cannot walk to Brazil... etc.). Students made their own masks for Carnival in Rio de Janeiro and then tried basics of samba.

On Thursday, we have travelled to Kenya. We have discussed differences of everyday lifestyle in Kenya and in Europe. We have watched a video about Masai culture, students were able to pick up on things they´ve seen in the video easily. After that we have been making Masai-like jewelry, all the students seemed to be enjoying this activity and made marvellous pieces. We have spent the afternoon playing games outside, students are mostly able to understand the rules of the game and follow instructions in English which is very impressive for their age.

Our Friday was dedicated to revision, we have done multiple quizes revising things we have learnt this week, be it grammar, vocabulary or facts.

All of the students were keen to learn new things and got very creative in all of our arts&crafts activities. On Wednesday, students still used Spanish and Basque in the classroom when being unsure about something or when chatting with each other, however, during the week we made a huge improvement and all of the students are able to communicate their needs and ask questions even thought it sometimes requires multiple repetition and a bit of misunderstanding, when motivated they are able to enjoy all of the activities without the need of using their mothertongues. Even though a bit of a reminder is sometimes needed, I am positive that the next week the students won´t need to switch to Basque or Spanish at all.
